DVSnapDVSnap - For users of Pinnacle DVTools. 30th May 2004 - Update for DVTools 2.0.148 DVSnap2.exe is now included for use with DVTools 2.0.148. If you are using DVTools version 1.6 then use DVTools.exe. Both versions are included in the download. DVSnap is a handy utility for capturing stills from Digital Video cameras using the Pinnacle DVTools utility. I use a Sony TRV900 Digital Video camera together with a Pinnacle DV500 editing card. In addition to making movies I often take video with a view to capturing stills. Sometimes I might capture more than 500 still images from one 60 minute tape. DVTools provides a means to capture stills from a DV source but it is a tedious process involving several mouse clicks and the input of a file name from the keyboard for every still image captured. This small amount of additional work required for each image becomes very significant when capturing large numbers of images. DVSnap was designed to eliminate as much of the repetetive work as possible when capturing stills. It does not replace DVTools but works with it as a kind of assistant. DVSnap works by sending mouse clicks and keystrokes to the DV Device Control dialogue of DVTools. It pretends to be you, operating the mouse and keyboard for you. The source code to DVSnap is included. Should you wish to change the way DVSnap works then you will need "AutoIt", a free utility from HiddenSoft Features1. Helps speed up stills captures with DVTools.2. One click capture from DV source. 3. Maintain multiple projects using shortcuts. 4. Resume a project from where you left off.
